Sollten Juden Großbritannien besser verlassen?

Diese Frage stellt Douglas Murray im Spectator nachdem vergangenen Sonntag, ausgerechnet am Jahrestag der Befreiung von Ausschwitz, die Sunday Times mit einer antisemitischen Karikatur erschien, die dem Stürmer alle Ehre gemacht hätte:

Wenige Tage zuvor trat der Abgeordnete der Liberalen, David Ward, mit diesem Statement an die Öffentlichkeit:

“Having visited Auschwitz twice – once with my family and once with local schools – I am saddened that the Jews, who suffered unbelievable levels of persecution during the Holocaust, could within a few years of liberation from the death camps be inflicting atrocities on Palestinians in the new State of Israel and continue to do so on a daily basis in the West Bank and Gaza.”

Zwei Beispiele nur, die Caroline Glick veranlassten einen Kommentar mit dem Titel “Bye Bye London” zu verfassen, in dem sie feststellte, dass die “public atmosphere in England regarding Israel ugly and violent” sei und zu dem Schluss kommt: “There is no future for Jews in England“.

Sollen also Juden England verlassen. Nein, meint Murray sarkastisch, sie hätten doch noch eine Zukunft  auf der Insel. Allerdings zu einem Preis. Sie müssten sich nur deutlich von Israel distanzieren, am besten den jüdischen Staat gar öffentlich kritisieren, dann ließe man sie auch in Ruhe:

But what is becoming increasingly clear is that the price of that future is that Jews will increasingly be expected to distance themselves from Israel. There is a fair amount of evidence from the Jewish community suggesting that this process is already underway. Once it is complete then those ‘good’ anti-Israel Jews will be able to proclaim victory. But the same force that they encouraged to come for their co-religionists will then just as surely come for them. And then where will they hide?

Gute antiisraelische Juden, ja für sie ist im neuen Europa immer ein Plätzchen im Warmen frei und wer sich besonders auszeichnet, bekommt auch wertvolle Kulturpreise verliehen, wie beispielsweise vergangenes Jahr, als  Judith Butler mit dem Adorno Preis der Stadt Frankfurt ausgezeichnet wurde.
